Having worked with Mark for many years, not only have I become much more fluent in English, particularly in regards to the technical aspects of grammar, I was also exposed to many more types of English media and literature. This would help me develop the analytical skills necessary when undertaking the IB English course. Furthermore, Mark was of enormous help to both my English and TOK coursework.

Chemistry was my weakest subject when I first began taking the IB, but I was able to score a 7 in the exams. Thanks to Chan sir who had a very solid grasp on the content in the syllabus. More importantly, Chan sir helped me identify what question types came up the most in the exams and which parts of the syllabus were more important. As a result, I was able to study Chemistry with great efficiency.

Mr. Chan tutored my final year of MYP through to the IBDP course. Initially, the teaching seemed intensive and daunting but he helped me identify key points from the syllabus, in particular on those topics I struggled most. Months before the exam, while I was still struggling with several topics in chemistry, the slow pace of biology teaching from school had made my situation very worrying. As an experienced and resourceful teacher, he helped me break down the course content into digestible and graspable analogies to reinforce my understanding of the various chemical and biological processes. He also guided me the thinking process in questions solving and my approach to unseen questions, which is a precious skill required to perform well in exams. With his diligent teaching, I have achieved a 7 for my science in MYP and 7s for both of my chemistry and biology in IBDP.

He also helped extensively the experimental design on my chemistry and biology internal assessments (IAs), a process many students would struggle as it is not a skill covered in school teaching. He edited and reviewed my report to ensure that it was scientifically sound and accurate. My extended essay on health and development (biology and economics) was based on COVID-19 and its global impacts. Mr. Chan was knowledgeable enough with current affairs and scientific research to aid my understanding outside of the IBDP curriculum. Without his guidance, I would not have achieved a 7 for both of my IAs and scored A for my extended essay. I therefore have no reservations to recommend him as your chemistry and biology tutor and trust that he can undoubtedly help you perform your best through the rigorous and demanding IBDP course.
