Mr. Chan has been my IB Higher Level Chemistry tutor for the past two years. He is an organised tutor who makes the most out of every 1.5-hour session to ensure that I understand the concepts of the curriculum. He is resourceful as he always brings with him electronic copies of past papers, topic – by – topic practice questions, and textbooks etc. Mr. Chan’s profound knowledge in Chemistry is demonstrated by the guidance he offers me for working on my IAs and Chemistry EE, as well as his explanation of complicated concepts. His effective teaching strategies and sense of humour make every lesson enjoyable. I am predicted a 7 in HL Chemistry.

Mr Chan taught me IB Higher Level Chemistry and IB Higher Level Biology. Having taught these subjects by him over the summer preceding to the start of IB Diploma, I was able to quickly build a solid foundation in them, which undoubtedly helped. When IB had officially started, I had ease with grasping the complex concepts that were introduced to me. He is very precise with his explanations, which allowed me to remember even the slightest details in the syllabus. Mr Chan has made the IB Chemistry and Biology courses smooth for me, which allowed me to worry less about these subjects and devote more time to other subjects that I was lacking in talent. Overall, Mr Chan is patient and has a caring attitude when it comes to helping students achieve their academic goals.

Because of Mr. Chan’s help, I was accepted into the University of Hong Kong to study Medicine. My final IB grade was 44.

By practicing past exam papers and frequently asking me constructive questions about the science, I was able to catch up new concepts immediately.

Mr. Chan’s strong academic records are another major factor that has convinced me to believe that he is suitable for teaching Biology and Chemistry of the International Advanced Level. In particular, the fact that he has consistently maintained a high caliber of academic performances and graduated with an MPhil in Biochemistry has proven that he is a very capable tutor, which will undoubtedly given his students an edge if we choose him as our tutor.
